Event to Celebrate Park Steward Program

Worcester, MA (July 17, 2017) - The City of Worcester and Massport will celebrate another year of collaboration on the Neighborhood Summer Parks Stewards Program at an event in August.

WHAT: Park Stewards Press Conference
WHERE: University Park, 965 Main Street. The event will take place on the Main Street side of the park, in front of the pond. Guests can park on the Crystal Street side of the park.
WHEN: Noon, Thursday, August 10th

The Park Stewards program was introduced in July 2010 as a partnership linking neighborhood teens with neighborhood-based jobs. The model has proven very successful in keeping youth engaged and safe during summer months. Maintenance activities performed by the youth will involve activities such as; trash-pick-up, tree planting, graffiti removal, park maintenance, landscaping, trail maintenance and other related assigned projects. This year's program will focus on park locations including; University Park, Hadwen Park, East Park, Bell Hill Pound, Boynton Park/Cascades, Greenhill Park and Castle Park.
