          COMMUTER RAIL

A power point presentation was made by Stephen A. Berrang, Director of Capital Equipment and Anna M. Barry, Director of Railroad Operations Directorate, representatives of the MBTA concerning their capital investment program (CIP).

 

Added morning train departs Boston for Worcester @ 4:55 AM and then departs Worcester @ 6:28 AM and arrives in Boston @ 7:20 AM.

 

Chairman’s Order request the City Manager communicate with the MBTA to request they consider the following: to adjust the morning reverse commute train so that it leaves Boston at a time later than the current 4:55 AM, and to add a late night (Midnight) outbound train on weekends.

 

Chairman’s Order request the City Manager and the Chief Development Officer work to plan a community-wide MBTA service delivery plan for improvements between South Station and Union Station.

7.       Report of the Committee on Traffic & Parking upon the Petition of Councillor Timothy P. Murray on behalf of Marion Morin request to extend the terminus of the #21 WRTA Highland/Assumption College bus to Barry Rd., and to install a new bus stop at that terminus, the corner of Salisbury St. & Barry Rd.

Recommend Approval by an Order request that the WRTA extend the #21 bus route and that a bus stop for the terminus of #21 bus route be located either at the corner of Salisbury Street and Barry Road, or at the Salisbury West or Salisbury Green developments, and that if this cannot be implemented, that the City Manager, City Council and petitioner be notified.

Marion Morin of Brompton Circle, Salisbury Green and Bette Staruk, 763 Salisbury Street appeared and spoke in favor of this request.

 

8.       Petition of Councillor Janice L. Nadeau on behalf of Residents of 1050-1060 Main St. request WRTA replace the bus shelter in front of 1050-1060 Main St. with a new shelter that has benches.

12.     Petition of Ann Baily request a brighter street light in the vicinity of 67 Lovell St.

Chairman’s Order to Request the Traffic and Parking Committee to

consider concerns raised at a meeting of the Committee on Public

Service and Transportation concerning the enforcement of on-street

parking regulations in Suffolk Street.

 

14.     Petition of Councillor Stephen G. Abraham request increased lumens on the three street lights on Chandler St. adjacent to Temple Emanuel in the interest of pedestrian safety.

18.             Petition of Councillor Joseph M. Petty request installation of a street light on existing pole at 18 Peacedale Ave.
