Order of Councilor Kathleen M. Toomey and Mayor Timothy P. Murray request the City Council's Standing Committee on Education and College/University Relations to invite representatives of WPI to a meeting of the Standing Committee to discuss the various impacts that the expansion of the graduate school programs at WPI will have on the areas of the Worcester community that are in proximity to the expanding WPI/Gateway Technology Park neighborhood.

Order of Councilor Kathleen M. Toomey, Councilor Frederick C. Rushton & Mayor Timothy P. Murray request the City Council's Standing Committee on Education and College/University Relations to invite representatives of WPI to a meeting of the Standing Committee to elaborate concerning the benefits that the Worcester community will reap as a result of the announcement that a four-year degree program in Robotics is to be introduced in 2007. Further, request City Council's Standing Committee on Education & College/University Relations also invite Worcester Public School officials. Further, request City Council's Standing Committee on Education & College/University Relations request Worcester Polytechnical Institute and the Worcester Business Development Corporation establish a Council on Robotics.

Chairman's Orders

Request City Manager work with the UniverCity Partnership, Colleges of Worcester Consortium, Inc. and the Worcester City Council's Standing Committee on Education and College/University Relations for the purpose of providing a report to the City Council identifying job opportunities involving robotics in the City .

Request City Manager request the Director of the Economic Development work with the Colleges of Worcester Consortium to add more information to attached fact chart concerning members of the consortium for Higher Education.

Request City Manager request the Director of Technical Services place the Robotics video presented by Dr. David Cyganski on the City's website.
