Requesting Certain City Council Actions in Regard to the CitySquare Downtown Development Project.

Attachments

The Committee Chairperson opened the hearing at 5:55 p.m. and heard a presentation made by Director of Economic Development Mr. McGourthy and by Don Birch, Manager of City Square 2 LLC. The presentation detailed the request for an amendment to CitySquare downtown development project as well as progress made at the site to date.

The Committee heard the following speakers:

4. Stephen O'Neil, Worcester resident
5. Doug Belanger, Leicester resident
6. Stuart Loosemore, Auburn resident

The Chairman adjourned the hearing @ 7:08 p.m.

The Committee agreed to meet again concerning this topic on Tuesday, February 7, 2012 @ 5:30 p.m. in the Esther Howland Chamber.


Chairman's Orders

Request the City Manager request Vanguard to provide the City Council with details of their parking needs at their future CitySquare site beyond the 127 spaces they will lease from Unum in the east garage.

Request the City Manager request Berkeley Investments for their vision for development of parcels D and E at the time the street grid is completed on January 1, 2013.

Request the City Manager request the City Solicitor for legal input concerning a minimum goal of 50% employment for Worcester County residents.

Request the City Manager provide the City Council with a list of the cities and towns that comprise Worcester County.

Request the City Manager to take the necessary actions to have the several pedestrian street crossings in the new CitySquare street grid equipped with audible crossing devices.
