Chairman's Orders

Request City Manager request the City Solicitor to provide City Council with an opinion whether or not residential tenants have rights to require their landlords to install a radon remediation system if the levels of radon are found to exceed adaptable levels as a result of testing brought about by the proper installation and operation of testing equipment provided through programs offered by the Massachusetts or City of Worcester Departments of Public Health.

Request the City Manager inform the City Council whether or not all buildings under the City's ownership and jurisdiction have been tested to determine radon levels.

Request City Manager provide City Council with a copy of the federal mandate that testing be conducted to determine radon levels in public school buildings.

Request City Manager work with our local legislative delegation to bring about state legislation that would require that routine radon testing be performed whenever real estate ownership transfer containing residential unit(s) takes place.
