1.       Communication of the City Manager relative to the City of Worcester’s Tobacco Control Program.

2.       Councilor Barbara G. Haller request Worcester’s HOPE Coalition be allowed to present its findings & recommendations following a comprehensive study of outdoor tobacco advertising in Worcester to the City Council at the meeting of July 18th, 2006.

Chairman’s Order request the City Manager provide the City Council with a copy of tobacco retail permit legislation and a draft letter that might be used for code enforcement purposes.

 

Members of the HOPE Coalition were present and provided a PowerPoint presentation of the work of their Teens Tackle Tobacco group including recommendation.

 

Chairman’s Order request the City Manager provide the City Council with a comment concerning the City’s ability to deny a license renewal for the sale of tobacco based on the state’s regulations, elaborating on the process that would need to be followed to accomplish a license revocation.

 

Chairman’s Order request the City Manager provide the City Council with a comment whether or not there are any options available to the City to restrict the number of sale of tobacco licenses in the City.

 

Chairman’s Order request the City Manager report to the City Council concerning the enforcement of existing ordinances regulating temporary signs advertising the sale of tobacco, and further, report how we can amend the current ordinances concerning the posting of temporary signage so that it can be easily regulated.
