Affinity Groups create important community and foster inclusivity. They provide a way for individuals to convene together around a shared social principle, social norm, interests, hobbies and/or identity.
The City of Worcester supports and encourages diverse and inclusive environments in all its forms - including the broadest possible range of cultures, backgrounds, experiences and perspectives from each department and division. The City offers these supportive, engaging and educational groups to its employees, to further professional development and inclusion.
Employee Volunteer Connections is an employee-led program that gives City of Worcester employees the opportunity to make a difference in our community through acts of service and kindness. Meetings occur monthly.
International Women of Worcester is an informal group of professional women who gather to strengthen our bond as women of the diaspora, and to expand our professional networks in the community. This group strives to create a welcoming community, which supports the professional development and retention of underrepresented professional women. Meetings occur quarterly.
City of Worcester employees are encouraged to participate in the LGBTQIA+ Affinity Group to foster and build community as well as receive education on issues that impact the LGBTQIA+ community. Engagement and learning events will be offered to employees.
Women Empowerment Group meets with other women in the City family to form strategies and develop practices for appropriately dealing with uncomfortable situations with clients, customers and patrons who require assistance. Showcase your professionalism, learn about negotiation at work and learn how to speak up for yourself in a confident, competent manner. Sessions will feature a facilitator.
